Yuba City/Marysville
Yuba City, founded in 1849, is the county seat for Sutter County. The Yuba City metropolitan area is the 21st largest in California, behind Redding and Chico. Next-door Marysville is the county seat of Yuba County and is included in the Yuba City metropolitan area. Marysville has a Mediterranean climate, which is characterized by mild, wet winters and hot, dry summers. A small, pretty gem in the center of Marysville is Ellis Lake, which is surrounded by sidewalks and a destination spot for picnickers. The Yuba City area is home to the alluring Sutter Buttes, sometimes referred to as the smallest mountain range in the world. The Feather River divides Yuba City from Marysville. HW 99 is a straight shot to Sacramento to the south, and Chico to the north, providing much accessibility to these other major metropolitan areas for commuters and travelers alike.
