I’ve been asking myself this question for the past week now. How can we be less than a week away from the Nevada City Wild & Scenic Film Festival? It’s like the event snuck up on me while I was sleeping (or selling real estate). But lo and behold, here it is, and I’m beyond excited!
If you’ve never been, the Nevada City Wild and Scenic Film Festival is a multi-day event that showcases the finest indie film producers and benefits an extraordinary cause. Organized and produced by the South Yuba River Citizens League since 2003, this film festival has grown by ginormous proportions. It features 9+ venues for films and workshops, a children’s Saturday morning “cartoon’s” program, various art shows, wine tastings, a Gala event AND an awards ceremony.
I’m pretty moved by what this whole event aims to do. The mission is astounding. Pulled directly from the Wild & Scenic website: “Wild & Scenic is a call to action. At the festival, film-goers are transformed into a congregation of committed activists, dedicated to saving our increasingly threatened planet. We show environmental and adventure films that illustrate the Earth’s beauty, the challenges facing our planet and the work communities are doing to protect the environment. Through these films, Wild & Scenic both informs people about the state of the world and inspires them to take action.”
Feeling inspired? Me too. Just wait until you’re able to soak in the films, first hand. Need more incentive to purchase tickets? Take a look at this trailer for the event.
Be sure to follow the Wild & Scenic Instagram page for amazing, behind-the-scenes photos.
